For nearly 40 years, I have had the honor to work on behalf of PK-Grade 12 students and staff as a teacher/administrator in Minnesota’s prestigious public education system—most recently as your Brainerd Warrior Superintendent. One of my greatest professional achievements was to have been selected by our Brainerd Board of Education and to serve as your educational leader!
As I reflect on the past six years and look toward the exciting future ahead for Brainerd Public Schools, I have great pride in the accomplishments that have occurred in partnership with our outstanding Board of Education, dedicated district staff, talented students, supportive parents/families, and our ever-generous community!
I am most proud of our collaborative efforts to provide high quality educational opportunities for ALL learners through: passing one of the largest facility bond referendums in the state of Minnesota; implementing 1:1 technology; prioritizing equity throughout our district; recruiting and retaining high-quality staff members; providing a well-rounded education in the academics, arts, athletics, and activities; engaging with students and community; and courageously addressing the multi-faceted challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the January 19 Special School Board Meeting, members approved the hiring of School Exec Connect to facilitate the 2022 superintendent search process. Although the details of the timeline still need to be determined, the steps will include gathering information from a variety of focus groups including input from the community, staff, and students. I want to thank the Board of Education for believing in me and my leadership. When I was selected, they ensured that I had the skill set necessary to lead our district forward and I am confident they will work tirelessly to find our next educational leader whose vision will ensure the future of continued high-quality education at Brainerd Public Schools!
Together, we have worked in partnership to provide equitable best practice teaching and learning opportunities for all and we have accomplished miracles. It has been my honor to lead Brainerd Public Schools during my rewarding and lengthy career. I look forward to the opportunity to explore additional exciting options for the future with my husband, family, and community. I am committed to continuing our work together and will lead and finish strong—it’s the Warrior Way!
